Art InSight Series | Jörg Brüggemann - Friday 24th @ 18.30
My mother gave me a camera when I was a teenager." This was Jörg Brüggemann's introduction to what was to become his passion. Part of the OSTKREUZ Photo Agency family, Brüggemann benefits on the one hand from the interaction with like-minded professionals and fellow artists. On the other hand, he connects mentally with people across the globe, India for example, who display the same interests but come from completely different background.
Brüggemann will give a Talk at the Bhavan on his artistic practice, as a curtain raiser to the 3-part photo project that he will conduct in the City. The project starts with a workshop entitled Yuva Karnataka: Growing up in Bangalore.

The play ''SONG OF THE SWAN'' is a journey into Hans' life. Into the mind of this man who sang songs and wrote poetry even during the time when his life hung in balance. We look at his life through the prism of those men and women who came in touch with Hans, and remain in turn touched by him.
Written in form of testimonials and reminiscences, the play also takes a look at the immense human tragedy dismissively named ''collateral damage''.

Rajita Schade - till Sunday 26th
The last relocation has changed and moved much in my inner workings and that of my work. The act of painting is a constant but there is a shift in perspective. Impervious backgrounds have opened up and become vulnerable. Disturbing spots of colour have appeared on skillfully painted portraits , transitions have become more emphatic, disorientation has crept in. The transition seems to have laid bare questions. These works locate themselves in my past and carry the promise of a future that is uncertain. And I choose to share them because as I am finally accepting of the doubts and uncertainties that we carry and despite which we still navigate through our lives to the best of our abilities.
My point of reference to break into the landscape of Bangalore physically and metaphorically was Lalbagh Botanical Gardens. Lalbagh Botanical Garden as we know is not only a historical social and cultural landmark in Bangalore but also a botanical ground for experimentation. Species of flora from different parts of the world were brought here and planted . Much like myself. The plants have thrived and so have I.
- Rajita Schade, studied Applied Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University Baroda and later attended the Wildner College for Web Design Stuttgart, Germany. She has participated in various shows, both in India and abroad. Rajita lives and works in Bangalore.

Neville Bharucha | piano recital - Tuesday 21st @ 19.30
It was at age 7 that Neville gave his first formal Piano Recital for us at the Bangalore School of Music. The Hall was packed. The little Piano wizard Neville Bharucha, playing both from the Classical repertoire & his own compositions, impressed us all with his excellent performance. Since then, Neville has not looked back & continued to win admirers not only across India, but also in the UK & USA, playing Concertos with renowned Orchestras as the World Zorrastrian Symphony & Concerts in major cities which include Houston, New Jersey, New York, Seattle, to name a few. He has won numerous awards & trophies in competitions in India. At age 16, he earned a diploma from Trinity Guildhall with distinction & an LTCL Certificate in 2011. Neville earned a Master’s Degree in Music Performance with distinction from Southhampton University U.K. He is now pursuing a 2nd Master degree in Composition at London University & taking private tuitions from Krystian Belliere, a repeated U.K. pianist ; Neville performs from a vast repertoire. He has received masterclasses from Musicians from the Royal College, Sweden & numerous others from Europe & received only praise.
The programme will include Bach's Fantasy in C minor, Beethoven's Andante Savori, Chopin's Polonaise in Ab major, Moszkowski's Ettienclles Piece (Sparks), Saint-Sean's Concert Etude No. 6 and other works.

Zille Homma Hamid & Renuka Rajiv - Saturday 4th @ 19.00
At T.A.J. Residency & SKE Projects on Saturday, talks by artists Zille Homma Hamid and Renuka Rajiv.
ZILLE HOMMA HAMID will give a overview of the works from the last 19 years as a part of the collective Honey Suckle Company and as an individual artist.
In her work, Hamid deals with themes such as identity, culture and history, while exploring a variety of different arts disciplines in a variety of media. A profound influence on Hamid's work was the approach of the Bauhaus school which reunited the areas of art and design. Textile materials or related topics are concepts in her works, which she has tackled as a subject and a source of inspiration. Her interest in textile began at an early age when she understood that there is a conjunction between cloth and social identity, that it is possible to express oneself in clothing and that cloth can protect by providing information about the maker and wearer. Having grown up with two different cultural identities she merges both the German and Pakistani aesthetic languages in her work.
Zille Homma Hamid Is a German–born Pakistani visual artist and designer based in Berlin. She has been a member of the artist collective "Honey Suckle Company" since 1997. Parallel to fine arts, Hamid has also been running a clothing label from 2004-2010. Her artistic work has been traveling and shown in various African countries like Centre d’art Contemporain Douala-Cameroon; Center for Contemporary Art (CCA), Lagos-Nigeria; Nubuke Foundation Accra-Ghana; Fortaleza Maputo, Mozambique; Bagfactory, Johannesburg-South Africa and at the Göteborg Biennale in Sweden.
Honey Suckle Company is an artist group of 5-12 Members based in Berlin since 1994. The Group has worked on various installations with all kind of materials and technical forms, mostly between 1995 and 2007 in self-organised happenings as well as international institutions like Berlin Biennale, P.S1 New york and Kunsthalle Basel. Each of its members come from a different artistic domain but the concepts are resolved in cooperation with each other and ideas converge into a singular output, resulting in refusal of individual authorship. The projects by the Honey-Suckle Company include installation, anti-fashion, new music, photography, video and dance performance.
RENUKA RAJIV will present work from the last few years, with a focus on her hand-drawn books.
Renuka has a background in printmaking and she enjoys making things by hand. Her work is largely drawing and incorporates pen, ink, text, collage, installation, stitching, zines etc. It is a priority for the work to be personal and it flits between observation and imagination, incorporating a kind of structural or narrative element to house a number of images together. It often tends towards excessiveness.
